1. Why should I buy canvas rather than the $.99 ones at the stores?
Answer: there are several reasons: 

*Canvas bags are made from the cotton plant. This planet is a readily renewable resource.
*They will last for many, many years of use. If they split a seam or get a hole, they can be sewn and easily patched and continued to use.

*The label on the inside of the cheap  bags read "nonwoven polypropylene". These bags are made from oil in such a way as to "press" the sheets together. It gives the appearance of fabric. They are not biodegradable and will not last long under continued use. They are not made in the US.
